When we bought our house I was horrified by the 30 year old appliances in the kitchen which are no end of trouble. And the very 80s oak cabinets and framing all over the place make me shudder on a daily basis. Oh and the backward installed kitchen faucet.
However, we have worked, I think, very well with some of these features and I do love the the strangeness of our kitchen.
Our giant heat loss window looks out over our small deck and right into the the church next door. They open their blinds on Sunday mornings and it gives me an evil chuckle if we've had a recent party as the out of doors is usually quite littered with beer cans and plastic cups from beer pong.
The vintage aprons were inspired by my great grandmother's christmas apron. I felt very bad having it and not using it or having a proper place to hang it. And then I picked up a couple here and there and there was this HUGE window to liven up.
This is one of two giant green spoons I have, The hand beater was my grandmothers and is still in good working condition but I prefer it for decor. My mom found these lovely poppies in some thrift store I believe. It doesn't match her decor but fit in just perfectly with our vintage green and orange kitchen.
The cupboards have been decorated with real vintage wall paper from a house sale. I bought it with no idea what I was going to do with it. I wanted to paper the kitchen but love the shade of green so much I couldn't do it. And so Rebecca had the genius idea to paper the hideous cabinets. And of course, I love all my little tea cups and mugs (these are only a few).
Thank Punky & Me for presenting My Place and Yours and also where you can find all the other fun kitchens. The theme came from these lovelies Yardage Girl and Thrift Nest Sew.

Oh my, I love the aprons in the window!
I also love old kitchen gadgets, I have a jar opener that matches your egg beater.

That's a really clever way of decorating the kitchen with the pretty aprons. I also love how you decorated your kitchen cupboards with the vintage wall paper.:)

Love the apron curtains! How cute! Love the paper too. It would all fit in my kitchen I think! I have some of the 70's orange & green happening myself!
& I love the mugs. I have no shortage of those myself! I swear I won't buy anymore until some break but it just doesn't work...
I too love the aprons - great idea!
Looks like we all love the apron idea! I have a heap of vintage aprons, and now I have a clue to what I can do with them! :)
Ditto. Love the 'apron curtain' too. Inspired idea.
